Conclusion 25Bibliography 26A Comparative Study of Tragedies in The King Lear and The Orphan of ChaoAbstract In recent years, there have been many comparative studies of Chinese and Western tragedies, typically the study between Hamlet and The Orphan of Chao taking up the main occupation. There is surprisingly little study about The King Lear, let alone a comparative study between it and The Orphan of Chao. The thesis is going to do some research on the differences and similarities between these two works based on the principle of Creation. Taking the differences and similarities between Chinese and Western tragedies for reference, the thesis does research on the differences between these two works from such aspects as tragic character, tragic ending along with tragic forms and structures. In the meantime, the aspects of the influence of religion, tragic conflict, tragic atmosphere and moral values have also been discussed in the part of similarities. Doing a comparative study of literature can deeply facilitate ones understanding of the differences and similarities between Chinese and Western works, which, in turn, will benefit the future study of Chinese and Western literary works as well. Keywords: The King Lear; The Orphan of Chao; tragic comparison;《李尔王》与《赵氏孤儿》的悲剧对比摘 要摘 要 近几年来，有关中西方悲剧的文学作品的对比研究也有许多，其中以《哈姆雷特》与《赵氏孤儿》为例的对比研究较多，对于《李尔王》的研究并不多，更不用说与《赵氏孤儿》的对比研究了。本文旨在创新的基础上，对两本名著在悲剧方面的异同点进行研究。其中主要以中西方悲剧的异同点为参考，研究在中西方文学领域都具有代表性的《李尔王》与《赵氏孤儿》的异同之处。从悲剧人物，悲剧结局以及悲剧的表达形式这几个层面出发，研究两部作品的不同之处；与此同时，以宗教影响，悲剧冲突，悲剧氛围以及悲剧所追求的道德准则为基础，发掘这两部著作中的相似之处。本文主要是通过文学作品的对比学习从而深入了解中西方的文学差异，有利于今后的中西方文学作品的学习与研究。关键词《李尔王》 ；《赵氏孤儿》 ；悲剧对比；
