论儒家文化术语的翻译方法和策略
儒家文化是我国传统文化中的精髓，《论语》则是儒家最具代表的著作。《论语》中的核心术语是儒家文化的核心思想，是儒家文化的精髓所在。在跨国际交流越来越频繁的当今时代，《论语》英译显得尤为重要，在儒学西传的进程中，如何将这些核心术语的深刻内涵以西方人乐意接受的方式完整、全面地传向西方成为了《论语》英译中的关键问题，而解决这一问题的的主要方法便是探究《论语》中主要核心术语的翻译方法及策略，比如“仁”、“义”、“礼”等术语的翻译方法。本文将分析儒家文化中核心术语的翻译方法和策略，对其进行归类总结，并探究这些翻译方法和策略的形成原因及其利弊。

With the rapid development of China's economy and science and technology, the attention to Chinese culture from around the world is becoming hotter. As is known to all, the Confucian culture has very important position in traditional Chinese cultures. Further researching the translation methods and strategies of the Confucian culture core term, on the one hand has significant meaning for enriching translation theory,  on the other hand, studying the translation methods and strategies of Confucian cultural has a vital role for western countries understanding the essence of the Chinese Confucianism, and also promote the international cross-cultural communication.

Chapter 1  Background and Significance of Selected Topic

1.1 The Special Core Terms in The Analects

The Analects is a representative work Confucian. Its translation has reached a great scale. Core terms in The Analects such were repeatedly mentioned. Their delicate rich connotation is the essence of Confucian thought.

 “Ren”

According to statistics, the current version of The Analects of Confucius, the term "Ren" appeared 109 times. “Ren” means moral category in ancient China. It also means mutual love which is a personal accomplishment of the highest realm. Confucius' ideal personality is the gentleman personality, also called moral personality. “Ren” is his highest standard of a gentleman personality. What he emphasis on all kinds of character in The Analects of Confucius can be regard as gentleman personality requirements. “Ren” included filial piety, loyal, propriety, knowledge, brave and so on. The fraternal love is the basis of “Ren” and the theory of “Ren”. ”Love" is the essence of “Ren”. Through The Analects of Confucius, “Ren” is one of the most prominent features the spirit of “love”. It was influenced by “JingMin "spirit in the beginning period of Zhou dynasty. The extension of “Ren” is moral norms and requirements putting forward by Confucius in the real life. And they contact with each other and unified to the gentleman of Confucius' ideal personality. So, understanding the thought of Confucius “Ren” can be said to master the keys of Confucius and Confucianism thought.
