英文喜剧电影字幕翻译策略——以《歌舞青春》字幕翻译为例
  随着跨文化交流的不断传播和深入，国外许多影视作品不断映入中国观众的眼帘，因此影视翻译尤其是电影字幕翻译额地位日渐凸显。只有好的翻译才能更清晰有力的表达出国外电影所要表达的真实含义，才能让国人更好的理解和接受海外文化。然而在中国，字幕翻译研究领域尚未形成一个规范的翻译体系本研究主要从字幕翻译研究的意义、国内外研究现状以及研究目的出发，借用目的论的定义和目的论的三原则，提出对电影《歌舞青春》官方字幕汉译的修改意见，从而得出对电影字幕翻译实践的总结，并系统概括出英文喜剧电影的字幕翻译策略。本文通过观看相关影视视频，搜集文献和有关资料,采用整理,记录和分析的方法，同时借鉴其他学者的翻译研究成果,查阅翻译文献以及相关论文等,并结合喜剧电影《歌舞青春》，研究总结出电影翻译中应注意的问题策略和方法,并得出对电影字幕翻译实践的总结。

 Along with the constant development of economic globalization and cultural integration, films, as a popular way of cultural transmission, have played more and more important role in people’s daily life. To make the Chinese audience have a deeper understanding of the foreign culture, subtitle translation is inevitable and necessary. Only when the contents and feelings in films are clearly and powerfully expressed with good translation, can people have deep understanding of the western culture and can the cultural exchanges be promoted. By contrast, poor translation will cause difficulty in understanding, and the audience would feel at a loss and even have cultural misunderstanding for the western countries. However, in China, there is still not form a complete or systematic theory system for film subtitle translation, problems in the subtitle translation field emerge in endlessly, and the film subtitle translators are of varying quality. Therefore, it’s urgently required that the Chinese translation scholars invest in more energy on the research of film subtitle translation, so as to solve the problems in subtitle translation for foreign films. Starting from the subtitle translation research status at home and abroad, and based on the three principles of the Skopos Theory of Hans J. Vermeer, i.e. skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule, the paper specifically analyzes the translation strategies and proposes the modification suggestions for the translated subtitles of the film High School Musical. After the review of relevant literatures and materials and the deeper analysis, the author summarizes the problems needing to be noticed during the film subtitle translation as well as the methods and measures, makes conclusions about the film subtitle translation, and generalizes the subtitle translation strategies for the English comedy films, expecting to make some contributions for the film subtitle translation field. In a word, we all know that being a translator is not easy. On the one hand, the first reason is that because of cultural barriers and different cultural background between English and Chinese, translators cannot understand others culture completely. The second reason is that much pressure rising from intense competitive society where many people study English after cross-cultural communication. On the other hand, this is a good chance that forces us to make great progress.

With the development of globalization and the intensifying market competition, films,as mode of transmission, have been playing an important role in enterprises. In contemporary society, with the rapid development of high-technology and economy, the multicultural countries are becoming closer and closer from each other. As everyone knows, the communication and connection between international market and domestic market has gradually increased since the reform and opening up policy was carried out. Besides, while human beings came into an advanced age, all countries make unprecedented developments, economy, customand technology. Under such circumstances, translation work plays an essential part in the process of communication, trade and entertainment. The increase of political and economic intercourse among various countries leads to a sharply developing translation market. According to the vivifying situation, there is no doubt that competent translators are in great demand. In order to make Chinese people enhance the understanding of foreign culture, translation of subtitle also plays an essential part.
As Newmark said in his work A Text Book of Translation, “Translation has been instrumental in transmitting culture, sometimes under unequal conditions responsible for distorted and biased translations, ever since countries and languages have been in contact with each other.”(Newmark, 2001:7)Only when content and significance in films are clearly and powerfully expressed and manifested with a good translation, can people have a deep understanding of the western culture and can the cultural exchanges be promoted. Bad translation will cause many difficulties and misunderstanding about western countries. However, in China, there is not a complete or systematic theory system for film subtitle translation yet. Numerous problems exist in the field of subtitle translation, and the film subtitle translators are of varying qualification. Therefore, it’s urgently required that the Chinese translation scholars invest more energy in the research of film subtitle translation, so as to solve the problems in subtitle translation for foreign films.
