中国英语视域下大学生交互式会话中虚词的运用特点分析
英语作为一种国际性的语言,现如今已经成为让中国了解世界的一个有利工具;同时,具有中国特色的英语语言能更好地向世界传播和介绍中国的文明、文化、政治、经济等发展状况。中国英语的存在极大地丰富了英语词汇和表达形式,对英语语言的发展做出了贡献。本文采用错误分析的方法,旨在通过分析中国大学生交互会话的语篇,总结大学生交互会话中虚词的使用特点,从而论证中国英语的客观存在,并为大学生英语教学的改善提供一定借鉴。文章还将阐述中外学者对中国英语的看法、理解和定义,分析中国英语和中式英语的区别,并提出作者对中国英语的理解。

1 Introduction
As everyone knows, English as a universal language has been learned by more and more people. Today, more than a quarter of Chinese people have joined into the trend of English learning. However, Chinese learners can hardly speak quite the same English that spoken by people from English speaking countries because they are growing in different cultural background. The sentences they use are different even if they express the same meaning. A large quantity of evidence shows us that China English as one of the English varieties objectively exists.
China English differs from Chinglish, which is not the wrong expression of English with grammatical errors. The predecessors have already made a large quantity of studies on various aspects of China English. However, few researches have been done to study the use of function words in college students’ interaction. Chinese college students can usually use the notional words correctly, while the function words which have no practical meaning often cause some problems. The use of function words in their interaction may have some common points even if they are not appropriate in Standard English grammar. Due to the same culture background they share, their ideas can still be understood by each other.
This paper adopts error analysis to find out some common features of the use of function words in Chinese college students’ peer-peer interaction. It could help to improve the current situation of Chinese college students’ English learning and provide Chinese English teaching with a practical reference. Also this study will help to deepen the research on China English.
2 Theoretical Background
The research about the English varieties around the world has firstly been done by Kachru, Braj B (1992) that the indigenization of English in Asian is exactly existed. In China, many scholars also have made a lot of studies about the China English. Professor Wang Rongpei (1993) wrote an article named China English is an objective existence, in which he probed into the differences between China English and Chinglish by analyzing the voice, words, sentence patterns and discourses of them and demonstrated the existence of China English. He emphasized that China English is not the wrong English expression with grammatical mistakes. He defined the China English as a kind of language variety which mixes English up with the Chinese characteristics.
English is a tool used to communicate with each other, so that it is the best way for scholars to directly analyze the speakers’ speech. Lin Meng, Jiang Yi and Jiang Xin (2008) have made a research on the college students in both English major and other majors by questionnaires. They introduced the studying situation both at home and abroad and stated the definitions of China English and Chinese English respectively in China English——a World-be Prosperous English Language Variety, and pointed out the necessity and certainty of promoting the development of China English.
To further study China English, scholars made their researches on different aspects of China English. Professor Wang Weibo and Ma Dong (2002) cooperated to research the China English’s expression by analysis discourses, sentences, words and phrases. Another scholar, Yan Hong (2004), put forward his idea in his master’s thesis that China English as a language variety used to describe unique Chinese ideas in Chinese culture based on the common core of the English language by analyzing the sentence patterns and words. In his opinion, the words or sentences Chinese people used are right in grammar and can be understood by Chinese listeners, while differ from common English expression.
In Chinese-English translation, function words shall be the determinant factors in organizing a proper sentence, because function words are the main elements used to signify the grammar of sentences. It is the opinion put forward by Lu Jingyi and Huang Jianping (2013) in their article, Ellipsis of function words in translation, in which they analyzed ellipsis of definite article, prepositions and conjunctions in discourse translation. Thus it can be seen that function words have a great position in English.
Domestic and foreign scholars have done a lot of researches on China English, while few researches have been done to study the use of function words in China English. Chinese college students are used to translating their ideas words by words when they are talking extemporaneously. They usually can use the notional words correctly, while the function words which have no practical meaning often incorrectly. Therefore, the paper will analyze the use of function words in Chinese college students’ peer-peer interaction based on these predecessors’ researches and enrich the study on China English.
